U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff ruled Tuesday that Mets owner and Chairman Fred Wilpon, and owner and President Saul Katz, won’t have to pay back the $1 billion they made on their investments with Madoff during a six-year period. Madoff trustee Irving Picard is the plaintiff in the case. Instead, Rakoff ruled that Wilpon and Saul can only be sued for certain recovery going back two years, which amounts to just $386 million.
