As promised, attached below three templates in support of HR 5032 — The Ponzi Scheme Investor Protection Act of 2010 , sponsored by Congressman Ackerman and a number of other elected Representatives. This bill is an essential first step to helping stave off clawback of innocent victims and providing some measure of relief for indirect investors. We still need to press for a final statement definition of net equity – which you might include somewhere in the letter (included in the template) – not currently included in the proposed legislation.
There are three templates:
Form letters are good, but it’s the personal nature of the letter that grabs Congressional staff and member attention. All letters require personalization (as noted in the templates themselves), and you should feel free to reword the letters to put them in your own words. However, we encourage you to leave each letter’s first sentence mostly intact, which asks the representative to support the legislation.
Feel free to forward the “Friends and Family” template to everyone you know and request that they also send a letter to their representatives. There is no need at this time to send letters to your Senators.
IMPORTANT: To assist with our lobby firm’s efforts, it is crucial that a copy of any letters sent also be sent to NIAP. The lobby firm can then use these letters to focus on particular congressional representatives. You can do so by emailing it to:admin@investoraction.org or fax it to (631) 421-5701.
If you have a close relationship with a Congressional Representative, please call me! (See contact info below).
The process for contacting your Congressional Representative remains the same as for the prior letter:
1) Click icon below for the PDF or Word Version of Letter Template accordingly:

(Please note, if you use the .pdf version of the letter, you will need to copy and paste the content or retype the letter with your personal information accordingly.)
2) Personalize the letter to YOUR Congressional Representative. (Any correspondence to another representative will be thrown out or forwarded to your representative).
3) Locate contact information for your representative. (Please note that you might need your ZIP+4 zip code. In that instance, go to:
www.usps.com).
Go to: www.contactingthecongress.org. Enter your Zip+4 zipcode. This will give you the list of Senators and Representatives for your state and congressional district. Click on the member name of your representative for the mailing address, fax number, and email address. Remember to send requests for House bill support to your representative and Senate bill support to both senators.
4) Add a few sentences or write a short paragraph after the first paragraph to make it personal, such as “my family was invested for 20 years, and our life savings are gone,” or “I invested the proceeds from the sale of my business that I built…” Reword the rest of the letter to suit. Use only the bullet points that fit your situation.
5) These letters should be mailed out ASAP !
Again, please forward NIAP a copy of your letter so the lobby firm can most effectively do their work. You can do so by emailing it to: admin@investoraction.org
or fax it to (631) 421-5701.
As always, please feel free to contact me directly with any questions you may have (See contact info below)
BTW – A CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS! We are interested in recruiting volunteers to reach out to other victims to be part of our overall grassroots effort. If you’re interested in helping me with this campaign, please let me know. Thanks.
